PPhil Health CARE Projecthilippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth)will hire at least 600 nurses nationwide for Customer Assistance, Relations and Empowerment Staff (CARES) project.

According to Philhealth president and chief executive officer  Dr. Eduardo Banzon the  plan of this project initially is to deploy each care nurses  in the PhilHealth accredited hospitalslike Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center and Mandaue City hospital.

“We will provide gainful employment to some of our idle nurses, while improving our customer care services, and fulfilling President Aquino’s hope and dream to provide complete health insurance to all Filipinos, rich and poor,” Banzon said.

The tasks of CARE nurses in the said program are as follows:

  • Provide “superior customer care” to members and dependents who seek treatment in Phil health accredited hospitals.
  • Ensure the stress-free availment of benefits by qualified Philhealth members through spot eligibility checks in the hospital setting.
  • Encourage non-members to register with Philhealth, and facilitate payment of insurance premiums in the cashiering units of public hospitals.

For the success of this project, PhilHealth solicits the cooperation and support of the hospital and local government units (LGUs) in the next few months.

This is also our way of helping our nurses. Although we will only hire 600, at least we are able to help,” Banzon said.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), sees the number of unemployed Filipino nurses may hit 298,000 this year, including the 68,000 who took the Nursing Licensure Exam last December.
