Abby, a four-year-old Leukemia patient of Albany Medical Hospital, marries her favorite nurse Matt on July 16, 2015. It must be crazy to actually marry someone this young, but given the child’s limited time, her parents thought that it would be best to make each day as if it’s the last.
Abby’s mom told the Inside Edition that her child would always say that she will be marrying her favorite nurse Matt. So, she texted Matt and told him about this, and the response that Matt gave Abby’s mom was “We’re planning a wedding tomorrow”.
The ceremony was so touching. The guests, which comprises of Abby’s family and friends and her healthcare team, hummed the Bridal Chorus (popularly known as “Here Comes the Bride” or the “Wedding March). She had her other nurses as the bridesmaids, a lovely bouquet, and a price charming waiting at the other end of the aisle (inside her room) that is covered with rose petals. Abby immediately hugged Matt as she reaches him and cute ceremony commenced.
They wore their ring pop, and ate their wedding cake. They even have a decorated pink toy car with “Just Married” label at the back. It was a sweet and heart melting event which sure enough uplifted Abby’s spirit and aid on her recovery.
In less than 24 hours, the video post gained more than 8 million of views. Matt wrote on his Facebook Account that,[pull_quote_center]This day will hopefully be one, our patient and her family can always look back on a smile when days are tough. I know, I will[/pull_quote_center]
These are things which are already beyond the scope and responsibility of a health care professional. However, the joy and impact it creates to the patient and their family appears to be more effective and even stronger than the best drugs in the world.
